Saturday Social x EA Sports

Created and Produced Saturday Social for Sky Sports, which now delivers 3m views per week on YouTube and social platforms.

Process

The vision for Saturday Social was to create a unique proposition for Sky Sports – a show that intersects sport & culture that would engage younger fans.

To be successful, we had to:

  1. Completely rip up the traditional broadcast rulebook, and create TV in a way that is the opposite to normal. All the concepts would be ideated with a YouTube-first mindset, and those 10-20 minute segments would be stitched together to create our live TV show.
  2. We wanted young, diverse & relatable influencer talent with large social media followings to help drive audience interest.
  3. The culture around football had to be as important as the sport itself, especially when filming player interviews.

From going live to present day

We built every element from scratch - a unique set, custom graphics, bespoke music, original formats and outstanding influencer talent, starting with Chunkz & Filly in episode one. Sky's Premier League access was revolutionised with new and exciting features and football challenges with world class names including Kevin De Bruyne, Jurgen Klopp, Harry Kane and many more!

The show's identity is strong, and the formats encourage healthy debate amongst knowledgable and passionate guests.

Results

Saturday Social has become culturally relevant to the YouTube audiences that we wanted it to become relevant to. It has a home in our football ecosystem, and it consistently delivers 3m views a week.

On top of that, Saturday Social has forged an incredible commercial partnership with the wonderful team at EA Sports and this results in branded content that feels authentic to young fans of the show.
